RP: The Great Lake At Night
Who: Pansy Parkinson, Blaise Zabini, Daphne Greengrass
When: April 18th 1998
Where: Beside the Great Lake, Hogwarts
What: A walk around the lake.
Rating: TBA
Open/Closed: Closed

Damn Michael Corner and damn him and his stupid tatty hair and unfashionable jumpers. For the hundredth time that day, Pansy cursed him and wished he was in front of her so that she could hex him herself rather than just wishing for it to happen.

What she needed was to get away from the journals and the comments in them. It hadn't helped that Capper had chosen her journal to comment the equivalent of suicide in or that Pansy had - foolishly - tried to warn the stupid little twit to keep her mouth shut.

Why, Pansy had absoloutly no idea but now that her she'd warned her she didn't give two hoots what happened to her. And if anyone questioned her own reasons, she'd hex them herself before turning the wand on herself. Several times during the past couple of hours, Pansy had contemplated going to the Infirmary to see if she was being affected by a bug or potion but then Blaise had offered the perfect excuse. What more could she want than spending some time underneath the stars beside the lake with a Housemate who ticked all the appropriate boxes?

Which was why Pansy found herself leaning against a tree that overlooked the placid lake. The surface was like glass now that the squid had been removed. It was as though there had never been any creatures underneath the surface. But Pansy knew better.

The same metaphor could be applied to Hogwarts if she was so inclined.

But she wasn't.

Re-applying her lipstick without a mirror, she pressed the coloured lips together and knew that they were flawless. Blaise would be joining her soon and even though she had no plans to do anything with him, she saw nothing wrong with being as flawless as she could. Driving him wild was just an added bonus.

For the past couple of days, nothing seemed to go right for Blaise. The biggest argument that had ever occurred with his best friend, Daphne, had set off in an unexpected way. Of course, he knew that she didn't play her instrument for anyone. That was something that he understood and respected throughout the years that he had known her. It was simply unexpected the way that she happened to react to the entire deal. Blaise just couldn't help himself, but listen in on the wonderful music that she emitted from the violin. When things couldn't get worse between them, it basically did. Actually, he was starting to think if he could do anything right lately.

That thought changed quickly after he had convinced Pansy to spend some time out by the lake with him. It had been quite a while since the two had hung out just the two of them. For a while, Blaise wasn't sure if he should really. He had been close to the Greengrass siblings for as long as he could remember. Since the ordeal between Draco, Astoria, and the particular woman he was about to meet, he felt compelled to be loyal towards the obvious choice. However, that wasn't fair. He had enjoyed her company greatly throughout the years, so something as a breakup by known others shouldn't keep them apart. Pansy had done nothing towards him and couldn't blame himself for missing her company and being at her side, which didn't involve the fact that she was attractive. Malfoy was a near imbecile for allowing things to turn out the way they did. That wasn't something that he was about to tell the other specifically though.

Not wanting to keep Pansy waiting for too long, Blaise made it through the grounds quickly, not paying any attention to any of the younger students along the way. With all the new changes within the school, he expected things to be louder throughout the corridors for some reason. Most of the time, that wasn't the case. Not minding too much at all, the grounds was quick walk too, before slowing down as he got closer. "I hope I didn't make you wait too long, my dear," he said, speaking as he appeared close enough, finding her leaning against the tree. Blaise needed this sort of outing to make him calm down, even if all they did was converse before heading their separate ways. Things hadn't been going well for the past few months and, for the most part, he kept all those thoughts to himself. He knew that Pansy was someone that he could be himself to. "I, sincerely, hope not. I do value punctuality."

Pansy looked up as she heard the approach of footfalls and let her wand slide into her open palm from her sleeve. Only an idiot - or Gryffindor (and in her mind they were one and the same thing) stood out in a remote part of the grounds unarmed.

Pansy was no idiot.

She recognised the figure as it approached and smirked "Hello Blaise," she said by way of greeting as she raked her eyes over him. He was good looking, from a lineage as pure as her own and whilst the name Zabini didn't carry as much weight as say, Malfoy, it was still highly prestigious.

And yet...

"You're right on time," she said as she moved away from the tree and straightened her robes "Its a lovely night for a moonlit walk."

Pansy wondered why she was still seething about Corner and his stupid jumpers when she ought to be enjoying herself. Determination had her setting her chin and blocking him from her mind as she offered Blaise a dazzlingly flirtatious smile. "No need to worry. Your reputation is safe with me."

"Good evening, Pansy," he replied seconds later with a broad grin of his own. Even though his face didn't show any falter, Blaise disliked making the opposite sex wait for him, not even for five seconds. Kicking himself mentally, just slightly, he took a few more steps closer to her, still leaving a normal amount of space between them. The previous conversation of keeping her virtue in tack was still within his mind. It would be something he wouldn't mind in partaking with the beautiful woman in front of him, but he did have respect for her, no matter what his private activies involved. She was a good friend, none the less. All they were doing here was spending time together, unless she gave him a reason to do otherwise. That he was fairly certain would be unlikely.

With a slight nod, Blaise agreed whole heartedly with her words, even taking a glance around in their surrouding area under the moonlight. "That it is, love," he said, not realizing the random times that he used a very familar pet name towards her. He didn't exactly say 'love' or 'dear' towards every single person that crossed his path. Merely those few women that caught his attention rather easily. With his best friend within his mind for a split second, Blaise did his best to push Daphne from his thoughts. It was too good of a night with Miss Parkinson to think such thoughts at that moment. "If I hear otherwise, I'm certain it didn't come from you."

Blaise paused just slightly as Pansy had given him a look, which he was all to familar with, but never showed such a fact. Trying to figure out exactly how close he can get towards her, he took another step closer and reached for her hand. He carefully placed a kiss on the smooth top her own. "See, my hands where you can see," he spoke with a smile upon his gaze, placing his gaze back upon her.

Pansy narrowed her eyes as Blaise stepped forward. She was sure that he was well aware of how he looked in the half light - dangerous and tempting and when he called her by a nickname she felt herself smile.

He wasn't like some of the other boys in Slytherin who used nicknames to cover for not remembering their current conquests names. Which was why the use of it caught her attention and had her tilting her head.

"Hrmm, I can see that Mr Zabini," Pansy said as he charmed her by kissing her hand. "You're very good at that."

Blaise always knew how he came off as when it came to his attraction towards women. No one can doubt that he was always a gentleman towards them though, despite the fact of how far he went with a few of them. It was always by their account and he hadn't forced anything upon them. Yes, he might have placed the ideas within their minds, but never made them do anything that they hadn't wanted to do. Well aware of how he might look in the half light, but that didn't stop him from kissing her hand. A small gesture of how grateful he was that Pansy had made an appearence by the lake. She could have very well ditched him right after their journal conversation. Not that he thought she would, but there was a chance, even though Blaise had never been stood up in any situation.

He wasn't sure what he would do if that had occurred to be honest.

"Naturally," he replied with a grin and placed his other hand on top of her own. If she had any doubt of knowing where Blaise's hands were before, that was erased from his mind by his simple hand movements, letting his eyes take a quick gander more southernly upon her, before placing his gaze within her eyes. "I can see you're doing fairly well this evening. Shall we take a walk around unless you've changed your mind."

"I'd like that," Pansy said as she placed her hand on his arm and shot him a flirtatious glance from beneath her eyes.

It had been an age since she'd taken a moonlit walk around the lake - perhaps it was one of the reasons she and Draco hadn't worked out. That and the presence of Asnoria.

Her eyes narrowed in distaste as she thought about the blonde who had usurped all of her plans. Damn Draco Malfoy, damn Michael Corner and damn the entire school for making her feel like this.

"Are you to flirt with me evening?"

Feeling her hand slip around his arm, Blaise had caught the look that she had given him. True, he had seen the same look numerous times before, but there were quite a few that the simple glance felt different. Pansy's had been just that. Of course, he wasn't the type to actually point that fact out verbally, possibly with a simple gesture though. It was obvious that she was hiding some feelings after what Malfoy ultimately had done. He could see that much by just glancing at her throughout the day. The look hadn't been there now, especially with the flirtatious glances she had given him that was for sure.

"Maybe," he replied with a smirk that spread a little broader upon his face and placed a hand upon her own, caressing it softly. In truth, Blaise really was flirting with her. A deaf person would know that much. It was just in his nature do to that most of the time with the women that he came across throughout the day. Heck, there were times that Susan Bones had felt such words, despite the fact that he kicked himself for it seconds later. "I don't see you objecting to it."

Pansy looked down at his hand as it covered her own. Everything was perfect ; the stars were bright, the moon was low and heavy and her hair had managed to tuck underneath itself in a way that was simply perfect.

The stage was set. And she even had a leading man that she'd borrowed for the night. She'd roast anyone who dared to suggest she was lonely but part of her missed Draco ; more than the social status she'd gained whilst dating him, he'd been rather nice to sit next to. Stolen, fleeting kisses and the way her stomach had flipped when he'd met her eyes as she sat down at the breakfast table in the Great Hall.

She missed that basic contact. And right now Blaise with his smirk was offering a reprieve from that pathetically weak emotion. She'd have been a fool not to grasp at it.

"Maybe you're not looking close enough to see my objection," she sad with a flirtation tilt of her chin. She hoped he'd take the hint.

As his hand felt her soft skin from his simple touch, Blaise knew how wrong their closeness could be. Well, not as a whole. He would throughly enjoy his time with Pansy and anything that they might do, but it was the fact of how was close he had always been with the Greengrass family that placed those thoughts within his mind. He felt an obligation to side with Astoria with the events that came to pass between a good friend of his own and the attractive woman in front of him. However, such guilty feelings that overcame him weren't enough to pull him away. It was good to have the attention that he had been craving for a while now, instead of wallowing around because there could be a chance that Daphne had chosen not to spend her free time with anymore. Of course, he wasn't sure if that were true or not, but the thought was there. He didn't even bother to ask either.

With Pansy's simple words, Blaise tilted his own head to the side, fully aware of what her words could mean. There wasn't much hesistation within him, despite the fact that they had never made any inkling actions of words in the past of sorts. Not that it mattered for him to make any move closer to Pansy. It was just something that easily appeared on his mind. "Closer," he said simply, moving the hand upon her towards her cheek. Fingertips edged between her hair strains, Blaise gazed into Pansy's eyes making sure that there were no last minute change of thoughts. His palm came in contact with her cheek, repositioning his body just slighly and leaned his head closer to her own. "How close do you exactly want me, my dear?" he asked as a smile tugged at the sides of his lips, aiming his lips towards her own slowly.
