Smiling at Fred's touch, Verity cocked her head to the side and considered. "True," she nodded, agreeing with herself. "You know," she raised her hand and pointed lazily at him, then snagged her muffin from the coffee table. "You got really lucky when you hired me." She carefully peeled the bottom of the muffin off, then set the crumbly top onto a napkin. "Not everyone is as brilliant as I am, or as willing to put up with you as I am."
