Who: Penelope Clearwater and Fred Weasley
What: Penelope comes over to discuss Advanced Wards
Where: WWW, Diagon Alley
When: Tonight
Rating/Warning: TBA

Having a specific deadline to work to ensured that Penny cleared her desk and warded everything at a reasonable hour. It was shortly before six when she slipped out of the office and into the still crowded streets of Diagon.

The spring weather had her tugging her coat tighter against the threat of April showers as she slipped in between the last of the workers and those in search of an evening meal. The weight of her books and copies of her notes were weighing down the bag on her left shoulder. There were some things she wasn't too keen on shrinking and a years worth of hard work was among them. Not that everything was written down. A girl who wrote everything down quickly lost her value and forumals and codes were stored in her notes.

Penny would give away her last meal and galleon to help someone but when it came to her notes she was fiercely protective. And now she was going to share them with someone she didn't really know that well.

Unless of course it was proper to count taking House points away from them as the basis of forming a friendship.

Taking a deep breath, she rapped sharply on the door.

Fred didn't know Penny all that well. Sure, she was a member of the Order now, but that was yet to be tested, and sure she'd dated Percy for a while, but that hadn't exactly done much to put her in the twins' good book. She'd taken points from them before, but so had every prefect and professor, so that didn't really count either.

When he thought about it that way, this might be the first time he was really having a proper conversation with her. Fred thought about that, then shrugged the thought off when he heard the knock at the door, he'd only booted out the last customers fifteen minutes or so ago.

He went down, unlocked it, and let her in. He was dressed the way he always was for work - outlandishly bright blue suit that did nothing but clash with both his hair, and the bright green shirt he was wearing with it.

"Clearwater, come on in." He flashed her a wide Weasley grin, and stepped back to let her inside.

Penny had long ago learned to distrust the sight of a Weasley grin and it was with some trepidation that she stepped in beside him.

Curiosity had her looking round eagerly to see what the place was like and she let her bag slide off her shoulder and looped the straps over her arms.

"Hello Fred," she said by way of greeting "How have you been?"

"Oh, you know," Fred would usually have a much more expressive answer to a question like that, but impending doom plus the surprise pregnancy had put a damper on his characteristic good mood.

He shut and locked the door behind her, then saw the look on her face and recongized it for what it was. "You've never been here before?" He sounded shocked.

Looking guilty, Penny turned to raise an eyebrow at Fred. "Course not. When you first opened up, I was travelling and since then I haven't had time to pop in."

Leaning over she let one her fingers trail over the worktops, careful not to touch anything since she knew just enough about the propriator to make her nervous "I've seen the catalogue though. Its very professional and swish."

"Ridiculous what you miss out on when you have to have a real job," Fred made a face, as if the idea of having a real job somehow tasted bad, then he shrugged and went to perch on the counter, letting her have her time to look around. "In the market for any tricks? We could cut you a good deal. Order special."

"Haha," Penny said as she pulled her hair out from the collar of her coat "I love my job. And tricks would only give me bad ideas as to how to use them. "

Her attention was caught by a display to her left and she eyes the contents of the shelf before letting her thumb brush delicately over the unknown brightly coloured item.

"Got anything to make customers who think I want to ward their house whilst they sit in an armchair buck naked think about putting some clothes on?"

I'm made of a million times of fail.

"Bad ideas about how to use them?" Fred sounded a little impressed, and he watched her looking over the display, then cleared his throat. "So, those theories of yours. Pretty sodding brilliant, actually. Georgie and I couldn't have come up with those. Not straight out like that, anyway."
