Verity froze, her breath caught in her throat. Her heart felt as though it had literally stopped and for a long moment all she could hear was a roaring in her ears. It was a long moment that she sat there, mouth agape, eyes wide, before she let out a gasp and reared back from Hestia.
"I'm what?!" She stared across the small gap between them. Surely she'd misheard Hestia. There was no way the other woman could be saying what she thought she was saying.
