He didn't expect that any of them were fine, of course. Or that this was easier for them than it had ever been for anyone. The nurturing part of his nature wanted to tell them that this fight got easier, but the rest of him knew that those were empty words. Worse, that they were lies. This would not be easy, and attempting to make them believe that even small parts of it would be was a disservice to them all. They had to be strong, together, and ready to face the hardest decisions they would ever have to make.
And, with a wry smile, he pulled in front of himself on the table a box of things that would help them do just that, hopefully. "Actually, speaking to you wasn't my first choice today. I came to offer you certain gifts, to help you in your search, and in what must come after that search is over." And before they could ask, he opened the box and took out three very small, seemingly insignificant objects.
For Harry, the Snitch caught in his very first game as Gryffindor Seeker. Caught in his mouth, after a rather frightening hexing. For Ron, Albus' own Deluminator. He did not relish the reasons why he felt that particular gift should go to Ron Weasley, but it went all the same. For Hermione, The Tales of Beedle the Bard, in the original runes. He had no doubt she could decipher it as well as anyone.
