Who: Orsino & Donaghan
What: Drooling over shopping for casually browsing the selection of musical instruments.
Where: Sonorous Spells
When: Wednesday, 24 February
Rating/Warning: Low

Even though he had gone on a relative spree just a few weeks before, Orsino couldn't deny that since arriving home with a haul of new instruments last time, he'd been hoping to return to Sonorous Spells as soon as was possible - without seeming crazy.  The cymbals had been completely up to par, and he was eager to be able to put them to good use soon.  But, in the mean time, today had seemed like a good day to go back and have another look around.  At any rate, he still had quite a bit of shop credit for the spending.

Thinking that perhaps it would be a good idea to have some company this time - just in case an intervention was needed - he had owled Don that morning on the off chance that the other man would be looking for an excuse to get out of the house.  He received a reply that such an outing would indeed be welcome, and so now, a few hours later, Orsino was making his way up the main street of Diagon Alley.

Sonorous Spells wasn't far from where he'd apparated, and on the way he passed by the boarded up building that had once been the cafe he'd worked at some years ago.  It had been like this for months now, and though he hadn't set foot in the place since quitting, it made him a little sad to see it in such a state.  Maybe, once all of this mess was over, it would re-open?  Sidling up to the front of the music shop, Orsino lit a cigarette and hovered by the window, waiting for Donaghan's arrival.

Donaghan typically always wanted to get out and about. Rarely did he honestly need an excuse either since his wife would be out to work. It was nice to be able to say that he was actually doing something though and not just wandering around aimlessly. Not that Elizabeth minded him doing whatever, but sometimes Don felt a little lazy what with the whole lot of nothing he was doing when the band wasn't busy. He just felt that sometimes maybe he ought to do more, but Don couldn't imagine doing anything but what he did.

Orsino's owl was a welcome distraction from his thoughts of doing other things though and so he set to finishing up some household things he said he'd do before getting ready. While he didn't really need any new instruments or strings, he could always take a look at things. And if he should happen to come upon something, well, all the better. His bass was getting rather old...

The meeting time was coming up though and so Don left the apartment and apparated in an alley, appearing in Diagon Alley. It only took him a short time to reach Sonorous Spells and find Orsino. "Good thing you aren't our singer, Thrusty. Those things could make you sound all croaky I hear."

Orsino looked over at the sound of Donaghan's approach and smirked good-naturedly.

"Oh, I don't know. Apparently some people like that sound. Although," he remarked, flicking the remaining half to the ground and putting it out. "I really don't make a habit of it. I don't actually remember when the last time I had one of these was...or even when I bought this pack..." Considering the small box he'd just pulled out of his pocket for a few moments, he shrugged and replaced it.

"But anyway, I'm glad you came. I have it in my mind to buy something, though I don't really know what. I need someone to make sure I don't walk out with half the store again."

In truth, Orsino wasn't even sure that he was planning to buy anything percussion-related this time. He had a veritable percussion museum in his flat, and sometimes he wondered at the fact he hadn't ever tried to pick up any sort of instrument that didn't require being hit with something. Yes, he was the drummer, but during the months that didn't include recording or touring, perhaps it would be fun to learn something new.

"I do believe that those people probably don't hear all that well, Thrusty," Don replied, his nose crinkling up at the thought. "I've heard croaky old people who used to smoke and it really isn't pleasant. Perhaps you ought to just get rid of the pack?" He didn't make a move to take it from Orsino though because he knew that it was hard to give up a vice, especially with how things were now.

He snorted in amusement and looked toward the store. "So I'm supposed to be the voice of reason? We'll see, but I can't promise that I will be. For all you know I'll let you buy one half of the store and I'll buy the other." He typically had Elizabeth to be his voice of reason and she didn't typically come to the music stores that were in the wizarding world and so she expected him to use his own discretion. He was pretty sure he didn't have any of that.

"So, let's head on it," Don said, pulling the door open and holding it so that Orsino could go in. "Do you have something specific in mind? Because I know you just bought a lot the other day..."

"Aw, what a nice young man," Orsino teased as Donaghan held the door for him. As Donaghan followed him through, he looked over at him for a moment before sweeping his eyes over the room. It was funny how the silencing charms on this place kept all of the noise in - it made the veritable wall of sound one was hit with upon entering that much more shocking, even for someone who was a regular. Forget the cigarettes; trying to hold a conversation in Sonorous Spells was what would make a person lose his voice. He narrowed his eyes and folded his hands behind his back innocently.

"Hm, well, dunno. I was sort of toying with the idea of getting something different. Maybe a bass..." he called over.

Throwing a mischievous look Donaghan's way, Orsino made long strides to the nearest display of basses. Most were of the magical variety, with a rack of Muggle sorts to the side. He reached over to one in a particularly obnoxious shade of orange and plucked at the E string. It responded with a low hum, just barely perceptible over the music already playing. Though Orsino had no real intention of buying a bass, he did like ribbing Donaghan now and then.

"Uh oh, I think I'm in love with it, Don. I just may swoon."
