Usually found behind his desk, Eric decided it been only too long since he pointed a finger at someone inside the Ministry to accuse them of wrong-doing. He managed to hear quite a bit—those loyal to Voldemort who were in charge did not seem to think too much of Eric and usually left him alone and to himself. Eric, quite rightly, made himself more of a nuisance than a threat to anyone.
Perhaps he would have been good for the Order—at least if he knew about it, he would certainly consider it. He did nothing for the war and giving him a real reason to eavesdrop and put himself in others business should at least benefit someone. He knew more than most thought he did. And no one ever thinks about how important the housekeeper is, do they? he thought, listening to a conversation. He suspected the two wizards to be dark wizards and sympathisers with Voldemort. Grumbling a bit in disappointment, he retreated back to his desk: they were only talking recent politics, not something Eric cared to hear regurgitated for the fiftieth time in the last week.
Leaning back in his seat, the latest copy of Witch Weekly in his hand (Eric certainly had no qualms about admitting he 'read' it, there was quite a large number of gorgeous witches posted in the magazine), he kicked his feet up carelessly and flipped through the pages. "You're quite the looker, aren't you, sweetheart?" he said absently and rhetorically to a witch on page 6.
