While Remus was allegedly taking his nap, the other three Marauders were hard at work, in the Room of Requirements, learning to be animagi. To be precise, teaching Peter to be an animagus, as James and Sirius had already mastered the complex spells, and were now just waiting for Peter to catch up. No mean feat, the boy wasn't catching on, and Sirius was losing patience. Each month that he was slow meant another month of watching Remus suffer in silence.
James tried to intercede between them, because sometimes Sirius was too sharp on the other boy, which didn't help a bit. "Calm down, Sirius," he admonished him, as Sirius paced the room in annoyance. Finally, he'd had enough.
"Let's stop for the day," James suggested, and Sirius tore out of the room without a word, racing back to the dorm, arriving out of breath, to find a sleeping Remus. He knelt beside the bed, watching him sleep for a moment before he laid his head onto the bed beside him, and dozed off, a smile upon his lips.
