Warnings: Lots of drama. Talk of death. Lots of supernatural reveals. You know, the typical human family dinner in WC.
Since leaving D.C., Cassie had spent the last couple months trying to get back onto a solid footing. After the trauma that Lena and Maddie had experienced when Michael died, Cassie’s focus had been on her children. While her reunion with Jackson had gone better than it might have and the girls were enjoying getting to know their father, moving across the country and changing so much in such a short time was stressful on a five-year-old. Learning about the existence of all of the creatures that she’d thought only lived in books and stories, made Cassie unsure that their current location was safe, but she had decided to trust Jackson for now and while Lena and Maddie got to know their father, she’d made them a home. She and Jackson had tried to make them feel secure, even though Cassie still feared new intruders every day.
Her siblings had been very patient and hadn’t pressed hard for answers, even though she knew they must have questions, especially Rajesh, and Cassie loved them fiercely for that, but the time had come. Now that she could have them all under one roof (besides Carmina, who had a marriage looming), Cassie was planning to tell them everything. If Raj and Ren were going to stay in Willow Creek, they needed to know the truth about the town. They needed to know the truth about the twins and they needed to know the truth about Michael.
Once she told them everything, Cassie knew that things would get better. She just had to survive this evening first.
Setting the Scene: Cassie and her two children live in a 3-bedroom apartment on the second floor of Cedar Falls. Past the hall, the apartment opens up into the kitchen, dining room, and living-room area. There are two bathrooms. One attached to the master bedroom and one between the twin's room and the guest bedroom. The patio is accessed through the livingroom.
Cassie enjoys decorating with bold colors and vivid patterns. Since it is just three girls living together and Cassie has been very intent on keeping herself busy, she's really gone for it with moroccan, bohemian, and spanish inspired decor. Wherever Cassie can possibly fit a throw pillow, there is one. Every rug is very colorful. If she saw an exotic animal-shaped knick-knack or lamp at any point during these last few months, chances are she bought it and its on display on a table or one of the bookshelves she's managed to find a place for.
In her attempt to create a good experience for her siblings in spite of all the bombs that are about to get dropped, Cassie and the twins have been cooking and baking all day. The smells would first hit in the hall and maybe torturing Cassie's non-vampiric neighbors. Cassie did both of her daughter's hair in pretty braid styles, and earlier during the day, the twins washed their bulldog, Anto, who has a bandana on and now smells like peaches. The twins would like to ask everyone to please refrain from eating Anto. He's their best friend.
Since there are not quite enough places for everyone, Cassie has set up a smaller table for the twins. There are also three places set at the counter between the kitchen and the dining area.
[OOC Information: Cassie's apartment is small, so feel free to assume that your character can hear everything everyone is saying, unless characters have specifically tried to find a place where they wouldn't be overheard, or it's written in a way that implies more privacy, in which case, ask! No tagging order. Feel free to jump in and interrupt anyone unless they post a header that closes a thread off to specific characters. If your character has something to say or react to, feel free to throw them in wherever or to interrupt as many times as you want. If your character is just listening, we can assume that they are. Any length responses are welcome! Whatever you feel like.
Chronology of events-wise, you're welcome to specify when writing. Otherwise, I'm good assuming that what happens first happens first? IDK. If we run into any problems, we can sort it out.
Since the main reasons that Cassie is telling her siblings about the Michael stuff in July and not like...April are largely OOC reasons, any IC stuff you can come up with in addition to what I have to help me justify it without penalizing her too much for what was beyond her control are really appreciated. <333]
