There was still a lot Elise didn't know about her brother's wife. She knew the generals, sure. That she was a teacher. That she was a witch. That she used to be all evil-magic-girl, but had turned over a new leaf somewhere along the way. That was the kind of thing that could make a concerned sister very wary for her brother's welfare, might even make her wonder if Killian's feelings for his wife were 100% real, but Elise kept running face-first into double-standards when she started down those trains of thought. Maybe when she finally felt more comfortable around the woman, she might be able to start a real dialogue and find out what had made Rebecca change, but for right now, she had to trust that Killian knew his own mind and own feelings. It wasn't like she'd never seen him stuck in his feelings before, and from what she'd witnessed...it was disgustingly real.
She wanted to be happy for him. She was happy for him...as much as she could be when she didn't feel connected to him the same way she once had been.
A brow arched when her sister-in-law asked about Ibiza. "I doubt you heard that from a bird," Elise mumbled under her breath, but then she had to admit that wasn't necessarily true. A little birdie had, in fact, been talking about that trip while she and Jake had been gone. "Yeah. He travels a lot, so he let me tag along. It was cool. I hadn't really been anywhere since—" She stopped and then shrugged. "But it's not like that. Hadley knows. Jake's kinda seeing someone now." Technically, his and Abbie's first date hadn't happened yet, but that was just a technicality. Abigail Knight had called off her engagement because of him. That counted for them being involved, in Elise's book.
