“Hey, if you know any tapestry weavers, for sure, yes, send them my way,” Harding said. “Jackson is hard to get Christmas gifts for.” A tapestry was a wall rug, right? Harding was 80% sure. His smile disappeared and he grimaced a little at the correction. Sister. Sister. Harding shouldn’t have assumed. Luckily, the McKenna cousin seemed like the good-humored and forgiving sort.
Harding could already tell he was going to like having her as a neighbor. She seemed like the kind of girl who was chill to hang out and was down with everything, which was something Harding could never have enough of in his life. “Oh, so she looks like you!” Harding clarified. Savannah definitely looked like a Norwegian goddess. He could imagine a similar looking sister.
But hey, he’d take the family compliment. The Reynolds were a quiet clan who didn’t get their praises sung nearly enough. “You definitely will,” Harding said, referencing her meeting his daughter. “She lives with me. She’s 18, almost 19. I had her really young. Her name’s Laurel because her mom hates! me. Destined to be some kind of superhero or diplomat, you can’t miss her. Brightest smile in the building.”
“The government, huh? That’s really impressive.” Harding didn’t think he knew anyone who worked for the government. It sounded like the McKenna cousins were all a really interesting bunch.
Harding blushed. Laughing, he shook his head. “Oh, I don’t know about that one,” he said. “But I don’t know isn’t a ‘no’ so feel free to give me her number.” Harding wasn’t really in a ‘starting a sportswear line’ place. If he was being honest, it was hard to keep the two gyms afloat. Especially in a town where so many people, Savannah included, had supernatural excuses not to try and get more physically fit.
Vampires couldn’t even improve with exercise. Selling a gym membership to someone who was never going to get any more or less fit and who didn’t have a heartrate was definitely a major challenge.
When she started talking about what she did for a living, Harding’s eyes widened and he almost dropped the couch. “Shut up! You do movies? Wow.” The whole thing sounded really impressive. Harding had no idea he was meeting someone so famous. He would have treated her differently if he’d had.
Harding was currently not a big fan of Seth W. Knight, but he didn’t say anything about that.
