[WB] BACKDATED
Who: Lawrence Everrett and David Lehrman-Rivera
What: Blanket forts make everything better
When: Friday, October 25, 2013; 7pm
Where: SDB Room 503
Rating: PG
Status: Closed/Incomplete
The desk chairs were removed from David's and Laurie's rooms and placed on either side of the TV. David scooted the couch away from the wall so he could drape a blanket over it and the two chairs. Then he added smaller sheets on either side to enclose the tent. Inside, David laid a quilt on the floor and grabbed a bunch of pillows to pad it.
David was one of those people who never told anyone when he was upset, not verbally anyway. Usually when he needed a moment away from the world, he built forts out of boxes or blankets... or the one time he and Laurie bought a bunch of Styrofoam coolers and made a fort out of them. It was a habit of David's from childhood. As a child, he swore it kept the bad dreams away and, in any case, forts were fun. The collapse of the dome shook him, but he refused to let it show. After two days of putting on a face, it was good to relax.
The effort it took to move the couch made his ankle throb. He was supposed to stay off it for a week, which he did, mostly. Currently, David had his leg stretched out with a heat pad on his ankle. The Fellowship of the Ring played on the television. Even though he never read the books (a fact some die hard fans might flog him for), David loved the movies. He was absolutely certain if he lived in Middle Earth he'd be a hobbit.
A couple snails crawled around his outstretched leg. They didn't say much, but David enjoyed the company nonetheless. One was napping on his knee and the other wondered at the expanse of the strange land before it. David' uninjured leg was tucked toward him in a half Indian style. On the quilt in front of him was a game of Solitaire. He could have played it on his laptop, but he liked the feel of the cards. There was a half eaten pizza and a bowl of popcorn. Good, lazy, movie-watching food. David was careful not to ingest the whole pizza so Laurie could have some when he got home.
