Lifting the bottle to his lips, Nikolai shrugged in a smooth motion while trying to articulate why exactly he was here. “Yeah, not into sports. I know; I’m strange,” he said, while still considering the why of his visit. There was something warm and reassuring about a place where humanity gathered like this. Bars felt like the heart of a city, much like a kitchen was the heart of a home. Even thinking those sentiments sounded strange to him, so he opted for Tahmoh’s ready-made reasons. “A little bit of both, really.”
His gaze drifted over the customers filling the establishment, alert as ever. “Company and beer. Mostly the beer, though.” His fingers loosened his tie absently as he watched two people argue over something out of earshot. He took in a few more scenes unfolding around the room before elaborating further. “Putting in extra hours at work can really make a person want to drink.”
He turned the conversation back to the other man, glancing at him with a look of mild interest. “I take it you are a sports fan though?”
