Winifred was good at these kinds of things. She was young and innocent enough to pass for ages even younger than she actually was and she always looked so unassuming. People looked past her easily. She just had a way of making herself seem so invisible. She nodded to Kaz like he was a father figure and she was a scared little girl about to see a doctor. She headed innocently towards the bathroom, before slipping past it.
It wasn't difficult. She read the minds of people passing her by, waiting for anyone who had even the briefest thought of either Alex or Jack. It was easy to tell who was immediate family, like their parents. It gave Winifred a start, hearing all that love. She paused briefly, her face contorted into a somewhat confused look. A sudden longing for her own family hit her so hard she stumbled backwards for a second. But it was brief, and there was a job to be done.
The twin's mother was sent to the other side of the hospital, in search of something she was pretty sure hospitals didn't even have. The father went up a few levels to check something else out. Various visitors were sent to bathrooms on all sorts of different areas and a few were sent to the parking lot with a sudden need to go home, or get on their cell phones and check on their jobs/homes/families/pets.
Finally, she heard someone talking about their brother, and Winifred realized she had found one half of today's targets. "Excuse me?" She said softly, pushing herself off the wall and looking as innocent and unassuming as possible. In her mind, she sent a message to Kaz; Family scattered. I have Alex. Jack in hospital bed.
