If she thought any louder, you could almost think Kaoru would hear it with all his extra sensory skills. And he did, indeed, heighten his hearing just a bit to make sure nothing was going horrible wrong in the kitchen during his departure and Jade just didn't want him to know about it. Fortunately it sounded like everything was going alright, and the pasta bubbled quietly and easy at the same pace, with only the faint sound of the spoon hitting the sides as Jade stirred.
Fortunate for him, she played Doctor far better than she played cook, and his hand was fixed up sooner than he could have done it himself. He had been watching her face as she fixed his hand, her quick look up causing the briefest moment of eye contact before she finished taping his hand to be good as new. "I will not injure myself on purpose. At least not until there's some desperate situation which calls for equally desperate measures." Which would be Jade ignoring him or something. Which was unlikely. How could anyone ignore Kaoru? He had a myriad of tricks up his sleeves to keep girls interested.
He pouted at her when she offered him a lollipop for being such a brave young man. "Now, Jade. Don't make promises you can't keep. If you don't have any lollipops on you, don't offer. Because we both know I totally want one." He snickered, and finally fixed up both of their bowls of pasta, bringing out the butter, salt, and pepper to season the rather plain meal. "Ta-da. Your gourmet meal awaits, madame."
