Speculations about William's sudden disappearance could not be avoided and Jamila herself had shared her own opinions when they were asked of her. Lingering about this unfortunate development, though, was something she preferred to do without. That wouldn't bring William back and there were worse things that could happen with one less staff around. For instance, one less person to hold the fort, one less person to protect the kids, and basically one less person to uphold the cause.
That was what made Jamila decide that it was probably time to revisit her old exercise regime which sort of maybe stopped after she gave birth to Gustave. The Centurions would need every one they could get their hands on and they would all have to be in tip-top shape when the call came. Lack of manpower would not be a legitimate excuse to save their asses.
So at dawn, Jamila rose to shower and dress up in her neon green neoprene tank top, gray cycling shorts and Mizuno runners. She left a note to her family stating her plans for the morning and where they could find the eggs for breakfast before she slipped out and took a brief trip to the local grocery store. After buying a huge bottle of Pocari Sweat, she started her laps.
Jamila started her morning in a casual jog which fluctuated to a more urgent sprint until her legs tired out and she would slow down again. She kept this up for hours, even as the sky turned light and she thought she could feel the campus stirring in their sleep. The thought put a smile on her face. Upbeat music could only entertain someone for too long. So at the first sight of potential conversation, Jamila pulled her ear bud off and let it dangle over her shoulder by the wire.
"On your left," she said as she passed to warn.
