His hopes for getting off easy were dashed the minute Alec called him out on dismissing him; or trying to, as it were. Leo wanted to roll his eyes, he wanted to tell the other boy to fuck off and mind his own business, but none of those things would make him feel better. None of those things would change the fact that someone else he'd cared about, someone he trusted, had left him. Just like all the other people who were supposed to stand by him in his life.
"You're right. I don't," he confirmed, but Alec looked like he wasn't going to get on his case for not telling him and his obvious concern made Leo feel guilty. "But I'm sorry I didn't tell you. I found out late last night, and I guess I just wanted to pretend it hadn't happened for awhile. Then I had to tell Libby before she heard from someone else..." Trailing off when he realized he was rambling, Leo let his friend speak up instead. It was easier to let Alec talk. If Alec was talking then he could pretend to absorb it all and not risk letting the hurt show.
The first tug of a smirk that he'd felt all day came to his lips at Alec's suggestion, and he couldn't help but raise an eyebrow incredulously. "You're offering to let me get drunk and hit you?" he repeated, wanting clarification. Leo wasn't sure if it was a trick or not yet, but hitting someone who couldn't get hurt and something that couldn't break was incredibly tempting.
