[SYN] WHO: Nathaniel Ellis and [Eli] Caleb Gilbert WHAT: Escaping the holiday cheer. WHEN: Tuesday, December 10, 2013; 5:30 WHERE: Grey Dog Coffee RATING: B for BFFS! STATUS: Incomplete/Closed
When Nathaniel had woken up Tuesday morning and gone in to work, he had not expected to be doing much after. He had annoyed Charls, a good part of his every day routine, and he had drank coffee and had a donut and was generally quite happy with how the day had gone. For the most part, he had been resigned to go back to his apartment in Seagram tower and re-listen to a bunch of language tapes, just for fun. He thought briefly about learning another new language, but he was running out of ones he couldn't already speak at this point.
So it was a pleasant surprise when he had received a text message from Caleb asking to join him on an excursion into the city. Nate considered Caleb a very good friend - and there were even times that Nate was sure Caleb felt the same way. They had known each other for quite some time now and Nate had instantly adored him. Caleb, he was sure, did not necessarily always reciprocate those feelings. Nate felt it was a personal victory every time he got a joke out of the mysterious and quiet man. But here he was, about to go out on the town with him. The day clearly was considerably brighter than he had anticipated it to be.
Texting him all the way back to his room, Nate quickly changed from his normal work clothes, which were quite nice and suit-ish because he liked to look presentable when he worked, to something a little less formal. He threw on something more casual as quickly as possible, to spare Caleb the torture of listening to Christmas music for much longer, and texted him that they would meet either in the elevator or the lobby. He left his apartment after that, retrieving his key card to hop on the elevator and head down.
