That Roman was much, much (much) better than Bob in this whole game of mutations was no surprise even for the man himself who did not notice that his negation was weakening. But maybe the pheromones had somehow brought him back to reality as much as the sight of the people inching away did. Outwardly normal or not, mutants were mutants and as far as Bob could see, they were the only special ones in the area. Which meant that it was possible that the normal humans didn't like the idea of them.
And that somehow got Bob's heart racing -- his trigger, that is, such a lovely trigger panic is -- and even more so when Roman captured his arm and started leading him away. "Whu--" He had half a mind to blame Roman's pheromones for this and was sorely tempted to actually try and negate him if he just wasn't concerned about mutant etiquette!
The doors to the shop had just opened to let through two women who stepped aside to let the brothers pass. Bob had almost tripped in his feet entering the cozy venue and as soon as he had recovered his bearings, he tugged his own arm back from his younger sibling. Well, this wasn't turning out ideally for him.
"Well, you're not--" --here to kill me, are you? Bob bit back his tongue before he could snarl the rest of the sentence out. It was an alarming thing to be heard in public and even if he didn't know his brother very well, he at least knew him better than that. Right? But he went with a different direction instead, "Well I don't see anyone...like us out there. They're...people!" Normal human beings but supposedly they were normal human beings, too.
There was an old man in a single seat looking at them from behind the newspaper just over his shoulder. Bob offered him a smile and a nod, albeit a really flat one.
