Joel was off to a late start. His mind already focused on Thursday in which he would sit around the family dinner table and eat turkey and pie. It would probably be boring but at least it would be away from Syndicate stuff for a day. Sure, it would be boring family stuff and the Syndicate would be mentioned once or twice so it wouldn't be completely Syndicate free but at least he could get an excuse to not train and to be lazy officially. No one could get on his case for lounging around on Thanksgiving. Okay, his mom would no doubt force him to do dishes but mostly, yeah, he could have his excuse to be lethargic.
Even with the looming holiday, he forced himself out of bed and to eat something before he headed to the training rooms to practice with his abilities. He knew his parents would pester him about how much he worked on them and at least he could tell them he practiced the day before as they sat around the dinner table. He practiced with his telekinesis, seeing how much he could do at once, and he flew around the training room like how anyone would run around a track. He actually pushed himself more than he usually would -- which still wasn't much but better than before. His scare of becoming a mundane human continued to motivate him to actually get off his ass every once in a while and work on his powers. However, he usually gave up as soon as he felt a twinge of a headache anyway.
But on this Wednesday, he didn't use the headache as an excuse to halt his training early because he found he had a different excuse; an excuse that presented itself when he had to make a mad dash to the restroom. Too much Thai food from the night before most likely. He found a stall and shut the door. Ug, his head hurt, is all what he could think. His brain felt like a sore muscle which in turn made him rather... mentally receptive, like his mental defenses were weaker if not completely down. In fact, he wanted a nap. Now, this wasn't peculiar. Joel often daydreamed of taking awesome naps. But now, he really wanted one and his eyes even threatened to close as he sat in the stall. Training was definitely over for the day.
Finally, as he stood up and flushed the toilet, he wondered if he did fall asleep because what happened next felt like a weird dream.
