He bit back the urge to ask her if she'd seen anything about him. It was likely she had, but it wasn't fair to blame her for it. To want privacy in a school full of telepaths, precogs, empaths... it was ridiculous, but he fought for it anyway. It was just that sometimes, like now, he had to allow defeats.
"Overlapping?" Jacinto made a soft hum of surprise as he poured them each a cup of coffee. "You're amazing, Em. A day of that alone and I'd be down for the count." He brought her a cup and sipped his own, glancing between the television and the stove. It was strange - unnerving - that a flu vaccine could disrupt them so much. He knew they were far removed from humans, but it was another reminder that no one truly knew the extent of their differences. What else would make them sick? Uncontrollable? His lips pressed together, and he tapped his thumb restlessly against the mug before he slipped back to the kitchen. New buns in the pan, a patty sizzling, those things were better to give his attention to. He couldn't risk worrying.
"I guess it's worse for us than it was for the students. They're used to their control being..." Again he gestured, absent-mindedly. "Wobbly. We adults aren't. Maybe it's like chicken pox, yeah? Kids recover fast. But the older you are, the more severe it is..." He smiled wryly to himself as he flipped a patty. "At least there is no itching on top of it. Visions, mm, but no itching..."
