"I meant you know... Maybe in certain situations." She replied, softly. She had often wondered what it would be like to just be normal with Luke. What if they were both absolutely fine, no abilities whatsoever, and had met in different circumstances? Would they still have fallen in love? They would never know, but there was a part of Melody that was sure she would love him no matter what. But that didn't stop her from thinking, sometimes, how nice it might be to lay on the couch and watch T.V together, without it being terrible for Luke. Distracting. Sad. He had to see all of her life, and how crap most of it had been. She even felt guilty for him seeing good parts.
He took her face into his hands and Melody held her breath, not tensely, but she always kind of lost her breath when he touched her. His touch was so calming, so soft... not to mention, it stopped her from feeling anything whatsoever, aside from her own emotions. Which, at this point, were just as intense as when she was feeling things from other people. She kissed him softly back, in the quick, nervous way they kissed. Someday it might go somewhere else, someday they might become more intimate. But she had a feeling they were both a little frightened of that.
"You're welcome." She finally said, turning back to her food. The rest of the night went kind of like that. They had a few moments, but they were mostly trying to be good for each other. They were cautious and nice, and Melody went home after they had a cup (or two) of coffee with some cupcakes, feeling a bit brighter about life than she had been feeling.
