[SYN] WHO: Melody Carter and Luke Gillespie WHAT: Hanging out. WHEN: November 18, 2013 7:00pm WHERE: Luke's room. RATING: TBD STATUS: Complete/Closed
Melody had ventured out for the first time in two weeks just the day prior. She had gone to Luke's once or twice since that, and he had come to see her, but aside from that she had remained in solitary confinement in her room, done on purpose. She had also been stealing food from Jillian, because she didn't want to go and have to get groceries or ask anyone to get them for her. She was still, among many other things, horribly embarrassed by the whole ordeal. Not to mention mortified by what happened and too terrified of running in to a few key people to venture out much. But, after her little argument with Jill and nearly starving for three days, she had gone to get groceries.
Now, she wanted to do something nice for Luke. She loved him, and she had caused him so much pain - their whole lives, really, she had been hurting him. It killed her, but she couldn't - didn't want - it to stop. She wanted him, forever. She knew it was selfish and rude, but Luke didn't every try and push her away. It was something she was incredibly grateful for. So, after getting groceries and spending the rest of the day prior preparing herself for going out - that is, taking an ice long shower, brushing and actually doing something with her hair, and figuring out all the other girly essentials, which was not something she normally did, she decided to surprise him the next day with something nice.
Which meant another trip back to the store for a few more things, and then spending the rest of the day cooking and baking. She wasn't particularly good at either thing, so she stuck with simple stuff - she made a pizza, which wasn't particularly difficult with the pre-made bread, the sauce they gave you, and just some of those store-made pepperonis and a couple different types of cheese, and then she made cupcakes. Out of a box, clearly. They were funfetti, with a cream cheese frosting. She liked it, and overall the effect was sweet. At least she thought so. So she packed everything up in tupperware and put it in a little bag. She put on something simple but classy and made her way to Luke's.
It was a bit... well, painful and uncomfortable to make the elevator ride up the few floors. It just reminded her of the distance between her life before and her life now. Agent to recruit. These were not things she liked to think of. Before, she had wanted to kill herself out of love and a twisted sense of protection of someone she cared for more than her own life. Now, she was more likely to kill herself out of guilt and shame and depression. But that would only yield worse results for Luke, and so she remained alive, however unwillingly she wanted to.
She got to his door after a few more steps, happy to have gone unnoticed and unseen by everyone, there wasn't a single encounter to speak of. No angry guys riding the elevators up and down because they got stuck, either. After a moment's hesitation, she knocked on the door. "Luke? It's me... It's Melody. Are you home?"
