Alec hadn't ever used chronokinesis before. He usually took much more offensive powers, none of this time stopping shit. He didn't know how it generally worked, so he didn't actually know that what was going on was actually out of the norm. It probably had something to do with the power belonging to Lenore. Taking these powers usually had the same effect - he couldn't use pyrokinesis on a pyrokinetic. Apparently controlling time meant that getting an advantage over eachother was harder.
And Lenore adapted to that difficulty a lot faster than he did. Another advantage of actually having a power. Trying to change the flow of time was like trying to move a brick wall. Time was a bitch. She got the kick in - technically winning this little challenge. But time ground slowly forward after Lenore landed her kick, as Alec finally succeeded in reversing the flow of time. It took a lot more concentration than Alec cared to admit - or do again.
Alec dropped to his knees, which was generally the reaction to a kick to the back of your knee, while simultaneously covering the hand she put on his shoulder. He pulled. He didn't put a lot of force behind the pull because it didn't require a lot of force. Gravity did most of the work. Instead of her getting in that second hit, throwing him down, he pulled her over his shoulder and pinned her to the mat, with a hand on her shoulder.
Alec grinned down at Lenore. "Let's go again, little duck," he said. He didn't sound like a drill sergeant or a teacher. He sounded like an amused student who didn't really have anything better to do than try to one up her.
