There wasn't anything quite like watching people. Cordelia often thought of herself as a side-kick, a second-best, the best friend. She liked it like that, though. She was weird-looking as a young girl, all darker colored skin and freckly. She only started getting attractive halfway through high school and by then she was already the shadow of all her other friends. She naturally just shied away from attention. So, larger groups tended to lend for her behavior to just sit back and watch the show. Be nice, courteous, helpful, and happy. She liked her life the way it was, just like that. In fact, being one-on-one, as she found herself more frequently these days, was becoming quite draining.
He asked her what was so different, and she didn't even have to think about it before answers were flying out of her mouth. "Time, fer one. America finds time really important. Being late is like... an insult." She laughed, walking easily through the streets with Oren. "Yer all self-sufficient an' independent. Ye have to ask fer help here. In Scotland, ye don' ask. Everyone jus' helps. Every'fin is so informal, so casual. Yer all very... honest." She said that nicely. Scotland was a nicer, more calm country. You dressed nicely and appropriately for every occasion, you took your time, you relaxed, you were nicer and demure when you needed to be. "Oh, and Americer is a private place, I asked a woman how much she made and she yelled!" She laughed about it now, but she had been so horrified at the time.
Cordelia audibly groaned at the mention of Lemon Raspberry bars. She clearly wanted some, and sighed with the need. She laughed it off, though, wondering if maybe they had some at this place they were going to... maybe she could take them to go. Oren grabbed them a table for two and she took the seat he did not, and glanced over a menu. She knew what she wanted and what she was getting, but she wasn't one to just ignore a whole menu, either. She loved looking at menus, even at places she had been to a thousand times. Maybe there was a new item or something she had ignored before. You could never know.
There was a soft smile and a look of, well, more like sadness and a bit of guilt that came from Cordelia when he said he hoped she never would. Have a reason to visit a cemetery, that is. "I wish ye didn't either." She said, feeling bad that anyone, ever, had a reason to visit a grave site. She knew it happened to everyone, someday, your parents would die, a relative, something, but it was terrible and she wished no one had to go through it at all. "Thank ye, 'gain, fer every'fin." She said, smiling a little.
She was interrupted by someone from the cafe's staff coming to take their order. She looked up with a smile. "I'll take a cuppa -- " She forgot that not everyone would just know what that meant. "Tea, please." She corrected herself. "Black tea, strong, cream on tha side. This gentleman here tells me I must try the cheesecake as well. Plain." She grinned widely at the woman before turning her attention to Oren, allowing him to order whatever it was he wanted. She walked off with a your food will be ready shortly, heading to put their orders in and help other customers. "So." She finally said, trying to speak quietly once more. "They tol' me, when I joined, I'm Photokinetic." She was still speaking very hush-hush. "Tha' I can do all these things, if I try. Will you teach me?"
