Cordelia was a good listener. It was probably one of the better attributes she had. Oren comforted her, saying she needn't feel sorry. He squeezed her hand and she nodded, almost wanting to cry. It felt close - like family. And she missed her own family terribly. It was not something she wanted to think about, at all. She let out a soft sigh, and let him finish with the tale of what had happened. The Centurions, she gathered from this story and the initial, were the agents employed by Willowbrook, and the Syndicate, obviously, was created with different ideals than Willowbrook had. She wondered what it was like there, as a school.
When the story was complete she thought on it for a few moments before she replied. "An' by comin' here, I chose the righ' side?" She asked, head down, eyes staring at the dirt below them. "If - If people wouda accepted us before, maybe wha' happened to me family and me, wouldn'ta happened..." She thought about it. Willowbrook didn't come to save her, did they? No one told her what she was. It was a big secret - her parents had no idea, she had no idea, but as long as it didn't draw attention on her, who cared, right? "I blinded 'em." She admitted, something she hadn't actually spoken out loud until now. She felt a little dead inside. "Me mum for sure, I don' know if me sister went permanently blind."
She felt angry again, and her fists clenched. Her jaw set. It was so out of character for such a happy person, but there it was. The truth had come out and these things could have been avoided if someone had just acknowledged what she was. Got her training. Willowbrook had failed her, and humans had failed her. The Syndicate had been the only ones to see her for what she was, and tell her about it. Reveal the whole damned thing to her. "I'm on tha righ' side." She said, only this time, it wasn't a question.
