James laughed at her exclamation, though it was a strange sound, tinged with a growl. "Don't overestimate the strength of that, ok? Bone is living tissue, too. Might be solid against a punch, but be careful till you know for certain." And, yes, he could test its strength against fire. But he had no intention of telling her that - she probably wouldn't want to wait to find out, and he could really hurt her if they were not fire proof.
The agent watched as she did her thing, wincing slightly when she landed hard. "Ok, so number one, lifting off is much more difficult than taking off where you already have lift. Especially if you're heavier. Your wings might be made less for flying and more for gliding. Gliding is easier anyway. Here. Watch." With that, James stepped off the edge of the building, spreading his wings, and gliding, only flapping his wings to gain lift to return back to the roof. His flight was completely silent - owls' wings were designed to make no noise, and so no one would ever know he was in the air above them unless they actually saw him.
Landing in an easy crouch, he stood and walked over to her. "You want to try?" He'd make sure she didn't land in a heap, even if her wings failed. But she'd save herself a lot of frustration if she tried it his way, he hoped.
