WHEN: Monday; November 4th. 1:30 pm
WHERE: Central Park
RATING: Nothing as of the moment
STATUS: In Progress
Smirking as he took the coin from the woman's hand, he held it up to display it to everyone surrounding him. The large "X" drawn onto the surface of the metal easily seen and making people gasp. Dare gave a small nod and bow for the applause as he adjusted the well-worn leather jacket, pulling the scarf a little looser. Performing always did make him heat up a bit. Flipping the coin into the air, he extended both hands to the side and allowed the crowd to process that it never came down. Literally vanishing into thin air. Another couple gasps and astonished moments of applause, he stepped around the table. Picking up a pack of cards, ripping off the plastic wrapping as he continued to graciously accept the applause they gave him. He slowly moved his gaze around those that had gathered and he pulled the cards out of the small cardboard box, beginning to shuffle the quickly on the table while looking around the crowd. Picking out who he was going to use in the next trick.
"Thank you. Thank you, ladies and gentlemen." He flicked a few cards into the air, catching them absently with his other hand before slipping them casually back into the deck while barely even breaking his rhythm of shuffling the cards. His grin was not in the slightest modest at a few whistles the show of dexterity garnered. "So, for the next couple of tricks we're going to be using this deck. And I'm going to need a few volunteers, but I'll be requesting the help of a few of you from here on out." Dare looked out over the crowd once again before selecting an older man from the slowly-growing circle of people, starting off with the simple 'melting card' trick where he made the card visibly pass through another card. He continued on this way for roughly twenty minutes, running through pretty much the entire gamut of card tricks in his repertoire. He could always mix it up next time, do some 'improvised' tricks on a different corner or specialize with coins. Not like everyone would remember every trick. All of this was absently mulled over in the back of his mind while he went through all of the sleights that he had planned out in advance. The last one was key where he chose a young woman and had her pick a card, after three attempts, he 'failed' to pick the card she chose and showed to the crowd. After the third attempt, he set the card on fire and when he snapped it out a complete card was in his hand and showed itself to be the girl's card. He handed it to her with a small, roguish smile before looking around the crowd with a small sigh. With this number, this next one would require some concentration. Well, no one said it was easy.
"Alright, folks. This'll be my last trick." He made a small motion, fanning his hands down at the wrist and getting the scattering of groans to settle. "That's very nice. But it's getting late and you folks have your own lives to get back to." Dare smiled winningly and turned to survey the crowd as hopped absently on top of the table he'd borrowed from a store down the street. Yes. Borrowed. Brushing his hands off, he slowly went among the faces that had appeared in the first three rows of spectators before settling on one that made him grin slowly. "You. Yep, you with the hat..come on over. I think you'll make an excellent assistant for this next trick." He turned to regard the rest of the crowd with a half bow. "Ladies and gentlemen, I bring to you The Illusive Man." With that he hopped down and slowly stretched his arms up.
