Shima shot up in bed grabbed at his chest. He swore he could still feel those cold hands on him. The stench of blood and rot lingered in his nose. He wildly flailed for his K'irk, pulling it against his thighs. Shima shakily tried to catch his breath, doubling over in bed. His staff jingled as he trembled. He tried to catch his breath, panting and brushing his sweaty hair out of his face. He didn't even need to close his eyes to see the scene replaying in his mind.

"Goodbye." Mahiru left him alone in a never ending bathroom, the door echoed like a death bell. Shima ran for it, the floor beneath him never seemed to end. He couldn't let Mahiru leave. Not like that, he just couldn't. "Come on!" He yelled as he ran faster, but the floor didn't care. It never moved underneath him, he never gained any distance. Slowly the door creaked back open, grey eyes watching him. The moldy yellow gold suit creeped out of the darkness, watching him with a tilted head.

"Run rabbit run." That thing laughed and held up Mahiru. It's metal hands were wrapped firmly around his throat, not matter how much he struggled he couldn't move.
"Why did you lie?" Mahiru choked out, "Why did you lie about us! I could have helped you."

"Mahiru!" Shima cried out and pushed himself, his legs buckled beneath him. He fell to the floor, slapping his face on the tile. Blood ran across it like an ocean. His blood. Shima's head was pulled up from the floor, and his eyes met Mahiru's lifeless ones.

"I could have helped you.... I should have been there... But I can't fix you. I can't fix you. I can't. I can't take you back, never in a million years." The body that once was Mahiru spoke to him. His head rolled to the side. "You ruined everything. You said you wanted to fix yourself. I said I could see a future with you. Now look at us. Look at us. We're broken." Mahiru's body continued to speak, "Now you're too-"

"Late." The rabbit pulled Mahriu's body away and lunged for Shima, swallowing him in darkness only filled by the sound of his laughter.

"Yamantaka!" Shima summoned his familiar. He was still in his pajamas, standing outside in the dark barefoot. The black flames rose from his K'irk and then further and further as the full familiar was summoned.

"This-"

"Yeah yeah I know it's a waste of your power... Please. Just look in the window for me. I don't want to be seen."

"This means a lot to you." Yamantaka looked down at Renzo for a moment. He turned reached for the window, careful to leave the bushes alone. The demon blended in perfectly into the night, being made only from flames that casted no light. "He is sleeping soundly on his side, clutching a pillow." Yamantaka returned to Shima, shrinking to a smaller form just covering the tip of his K'rik.

Shima breathed a sigh of relief. "Thank you.." He started to take a walk, feeling the still warm side walk beneath his feet. "I just couldn't sleep after that dream. I needed to know he was ok." Renzo replied as they walked. He walked to a nearby park just down the street and stood on the edge of the playground.

"You've summoned me and have not forced me back or passed out." Yamantaka pointed out.

"Stamina training. I figure there's no better way to do it then to try hanging out with you." Shima walked across the playground rubber to sit on a swing. He swung back and forth slowly with his feet, "Besides I want to ask you some questions about my family. You knew my dad as a kid right?"

"Yes. He was the same as he is now. Only less reckless."

"Do you think he'd be ok with me if I was bisexual?" Silence settled between them. Shima grit his teeth, wondering if that was a stupid thing to ask.

"That's not my place to say, but I don't see why he wouldn't. Your father only wants what's best for you in everything that you do. He is so hard on you because he lost Takezo. It is a hard thing on a parent to outlive a child, let alone to loose one on an order he gave."

"What?" Shima stared down at Yamantaka who continued to hover just above the tip of the K'irk.

"He was the one who gave the order for Takezo to lead the women and children to safety during the blue night. He trusted wholeheartedly in Takezo's ability to wield me. In the end it costed him his life. I do not know your father s I do you. I have watched you grow and you are just as reckless as he was. I can only assume he fears for your safety just as he does all his children. However you have put yourself into a more dangerous position than the rest because you crave the thrill. He probably cannot bare it."

Michelle was right... He doesn't know how to say he's scared for me... Shima thought back to his therapy session. "They're all scared for me... aren't they? You are too. Everything you said back at the hospital, you meant it."

"Of course they are. You are the play thing of not one but two demon kings and you allow yourself to be while simultaneously playing your own side. That is not an easy thing to bear Renzo. And yes I meant what I said at the hospital. You are a raging flame Renzo, you are just now starting to realize it. Be loud, be proud, and be you shamelessly. Stop shirking yourself away. It's shameful."

Renzo looked up at the dim stars. Be loud, be proud, and be myself shamelessly? Really? A small smile graced his face, "Yeah I guess you're right... I'm not really sure how to go about all that. But yeah you're right. Be myself shamelessly huh? Should I start reading porn in public?"

"You already do." Yamantaka's voice was flatter than usual. "You should return before you pass out."

"Actually, I'm feeling ok. I want to stay out here a little longer." Renzo pushed the swing a little harder. He swung back and forth, watching the stars. "What was Takezo like?"

"You have heard this speech from your siblings countless times. He was responsible, strong, and a deeply caring person. He cared for you so much, even in his final moments. He loved to hold you, as he did the rest of the siblings. I'm sure had he lived he would have loved to have had children of his own. He was an excellent Tamer as well. We got along well, but I found him too caring at times. We did not always get along just as you and I do not always get along."

Shima nodded, "He sounds like he was a great guy." He knew a lot about Takezo. His siblings always held him in such high regard, especially Juzo. Juzo talked about him like he was a personal hero. Shima didn't hate him. He never had hated Takezo, but rather the fact everyone always seemed to compare the two of them. Hearing Yamantaka's side of things made him feel better. Not so perfect then? I wish I could have met you Takezo.

He wasn't sure how long had passed before Shima felt his eye lids closing at an alarming rate. He slowly pushed himself up and started to stagger home. "Thank you Yamantaka. You can go now..." The flames vanished and Shima used his K'irk as a walking stick as he stumbled. He finally made it home and collapsed onto his bed. As his eyes finally closed he saw his alarm clock, "3:24am".

An hour....
