Selina had a bad night. It was beginning to become an unwelcome pattern, the last three nights in a row had been particularly hard for her all due to the return to Kai, better known these days as ‘Hellhound’. He and Selina had quite a past, she had interrupted some sort of ceremony and he had beat her for it, she had never been one to just take a beating so she followed him back to the Dojo of the Armless Master, hoping for a chance at revenge. She had never imagined that the master would take her in and train her right along side Kai who quickly grew to resent her, she assumed that it was because the more they sparred the more she beat him. It only grew worse when she left the Dojo and took up the identity of Catwoman, in his sick mind he saw it as a sign that he would soon be able to complete the ceremony she had interrupted years ago. If she killed him he then would be reborn as the true ‘Hound of Hell’. Selina might have a violent streak, but she never meant to kill anyone, Kai must have known this since she refused to kill him yet he continued to start fights with her in hopes that she would go too far. A year and a half ago he had followed her back to her apartment after a heist and they ended up destroying most of her place with the monster of a brawl they had. When it ended, she scratched his face and told him to leave Gotham, that she would never end his life. He looked as if he could kill her with the fire in his eyes, but he did leave and until three nights ago she had not seen hide nor hair of him.
He had been following her these last three days, telling her it was time she ended this, it had annoyed her so much and worried her enough that she had broken off every plan she had with Bruce and did not go in to her office. She didn’t want Bruce or the people she worked with put in harm’s way just because he was out of his mind. Of course, he noticed this and found what he thought was a better way to get at her. He had threatened her sister, she was sure threatening a nun got one an express ticket to hell, but then again he did keep begging her to end him. That night she spent watching over Maggie, and for the most part, nothing had happened. When the first rays of light began to color the sky Selina made her moves to leave, but that was when he struck. He was angrier than ever and she had to work to defend herself, work harder than she had in ages and considering she spent her time as Catwoman fighting Batman, that was quite something. She did eventually lose him, but not without sustaining a few injuries.
She went home and fell into bed right away, utterly exhausted, sleeping though one of her ‘dates’ with Bruce, she didn’t like the word date, it sounded too 1950’s to her ears, she generally called it just ‘seeing’ Bruce. She could have certainly slept the day away but Isis was not content with that and woke her an hour after she was supposed to have met Bruce. She laid there for a few moments, contemplating a shower and what she was going to tell him when she called, after all, he had doubtlessly left her a message when she didn’t show up. It was only fair, she mused as she picked up her phone and dialed his number, he was usually the one breaking their dates, now it was her turn.
