"She doesn't have any more of earth than many of the version of the Doctor did. I'm sorry. I feel bad for her. I do not feel worse for her than any version fo the Doctor that doesn't have you, or has to deal with you being a psychopath. Her situation sucks, but even feeling bad isn't going to fix it. Bottom line: I like the woman, I respect her, and I respect her enough to believe she's capable of dealing. I've got to believe that because I *know* there is not a damn thing anyone but her can do to fix it."
... He'd given up his own kid. Jack was harder than now than he had been. Not lacking empathy or sympathy, not warm, or unwilling to provide stability or support. He was just way, way past the 'petting' someone to make it better. In his experience it just didn't work.
