"I haven't spoken to him in months," Jack admitted. "But Gray hasn't been here very long. Jack might have been lucky and not run into him."
The Doctor had twitched a bit at the mention of Gray. It took Jack a moment to remember that this whole thing had started because of him not having told the Doctor about Gray, not having let him help search for him, and then coming back to the TARDIS full of angst about having met that Gray. That was where their quarrel had started that sent Jack wandering off in a rage.
Not that the Doctor was doing more than twitch. Otherwise he was still worryingly passive.
Jack pulled back enough to look at the Doctor's face. "You okay?" he asked, for the second time, this time letting the concern show more in his face and voice.
The Doctor just stared at him, speechless. Which was worrying in itself.
Jack swallowed. Then made a decision and glanced round at the others. "I'm just going to take the Doc to lie down," he announced. "Be back in a bit."
The Doctor didn't protest or pull back as Jack led him out of the room.
