"There has to be a way to at least predict when there's a shift into or out of this... pocket." Tosh let go of Jack's arm, sliding her bag off her shoulder as she sat down on a nearby bench, pulling out her laptop. "An energy spike, at least. Maybe some sort of cycle to the activity, like there is with the Rift."
Jack followed Tosh, standing beside the bench in an unconscious and automatic move to stand guard over her. Protective. "What if the Doctor's right, and it is random, Miss Sato?"
"There still has to be something to predict when it will shift someone in or out. It takes energy to move mass from one place to another, and that would have to show up on some sort of monitoring device. I don't have Torchwood's equipment with me, but if I can find the tools and components, or a TARDIS, I might be able to come up with something workable."
She wouldn't admit the possibility that she couldn't, not if there was a version of the Doctor here. If he was here, a TARDIS had to be here, and equipment she could use had to be here. At least, she hoped it was as simple as that. Building her equipment from scratch without knowing what resources she had availible was a bit more daunting.
