Then River remembered she was speaking to a senior officer she didn’t believe she had met before.
“Lieutenant River Song, pilot. Greel Search Party.” She stood up as straight as she could and gave him a lack luster salute, which surprised her by getting blood from her head onto her hands.
“Let me turn off the ship and I’ll give you a full report,” she said and turned to what she believed was the general area of the ignition switch. Moving her fingers around for a moment, she found the switch, turned the engine safety off, and then removed the key.
After placing the key in the proper pocket, she turned back to where she had last heard Jack’s voice.
“You should probably be made aware… I can’t see anything,” River really didn’t want to admit that, but it seemed silly not to at this point.
