"Ta," he said, staring at Toshiko with a frown. Once he finished taking her vitals, he moved over to the blood test results, tapping the keyboard a few times to check on her levels.
"Brilliant, thanks," he told the Doctor, a bit absent-mindedly. He remained at the computer screen, staring and occasionally shaking his head (at how much it didn't make sense - her serotonin and norepinephrine levels were too low for it to be a regular dream-like state).
He barely noticed when the Doctor made his return. Once he saw him, though, he set to work on his supplies - he needed a mortar and pestle and some water. It felt oddly low-tech, for it being Torchwood and all. "Zolpidem is a medication usually used for sleeping," he explained to the Doctor, taking the pills from him.
"But in some cases, it's also used to wake patients who are in a persistent vegetative state. Er, a coma," he ground the pill and added water, making it into a sort of a paste. Toshiko wouldn't be able to swallow, but neither could coma patients. You did this and put it under their tongue, was the trick.
