Daniel wanted to protest sleeping in the bed. It wasn't right for Sam to sleep on the couch because he had acted like a complete ass. But he had known Sam long enough to know not to fight her on the little things. It was one of the many things he loved so much about her - she would willingly give up her own comfort for someone she cared about. "Okay," he finally said as he stood from the couch and went to the bed.
After taking off his glasses, shoes and jacket, Daniel laid down on the bed. "Night, Sam," he said. "I...thank you for letting me stay here." When she kissed his forehead, Daniel stared up at her for a moment before thickly swallowing. "Night, Sam."
It didn't take long for Daniel to fall asleep. When morning came, he woke up and lazily blinked his eyes. It took him a moment to remember where he was. With a soft sigh, he rolled over and picked up his glass before sitting up. He slipped them on his face and looked across the room where Sam was sleeping.
Slowly, he slipped out of the bed and went over to the couch. He sat down on the coffee table in front of her and reached out to run the back of his hand over her temple. She was so beautiful when she was asleep.
"I'm sorry," Daniel whispered, not sure if she was awake or not. What he wanted to say couldn't wait. "My behavior last night was inexcusable. You're happy and I need to learn how to live with that and not act like a spoiled brat. It's just...I thought I was over you and then Jack told me and I didn't know how to act. It doesn't surprise me someone snatched you up. You're beautiful and wonderful and the most loving woman I've ever met."
Daniel paused and looked down at his hands. "I'm sorry," he said again before looking up.
