Daniel looked at Sam, knowing it wasn't okay. Even though he was still a bit drunk, he understood the full impact of his actions. He had lied to get through the Gate just because he couldn't move on. Things were over between Sam and him, and had been for a while. She was beautiful and smart and fun to be around. Of course some lucky guy was going to snatch her up and make her happy.
"Thank you, Carson," Caitlin said after he'd taken her jacket and hat off. "Forgot you don't have a winter here." She then nodded head and allowed Carson to take her into his quarters.
Looking at Sam, Daniel softly shuddered when she took his hand. God, he had missed being touched by her. He went into her quarters and sat down on the couch. His head was spinning a little so he looked at the floor and thickly swallowed. He was sure this wasn't going to end well.
"Thank you," he whispered as he took the glass of water from her. He took a small sip and looked at her when she brushed her hand over his temple. Taking a deep breath, Daniel looked away and took another drink of his water.
"I'm the biggest jerk ever. I'm so sorry, Sam. I shouldn't be here," he sadly said. "It's unfair to you. You're happy and I shouldn't be here, ruining it." He looked down at the floor again, knowing he had to let her go. Sighing, he drank the rest of the water and sat the empty glass to the side. "I want to go to sleep. I'll sleep out here on the couch."
