After Janet's memorial, Daniel found he needed to get away from everyone and everything. Going to his lab, he shrugged off his jacket and pulled his tie off. He had wanted to tell Sam how beautiful her eulogy but he didn't think he could face her at the moment. Seeing how upset Sam was broke his heart and every time he wanted to go to her, he always stopped. What could he possibly do to make her feel better?
He sat down at his desk and stared down at the tape in his hands. Daniel didn't need to watch it since the images of that day haunted his dreams. Yet, he knew he had to do something with with the tape. He needed to give it to someone so Janet's final act of bravery wouldn't be lost. It was the least he could do.
Daniel had just slipped the tape into his pocket when Sam walked in. He looked up at her, squinting his eyes before picking up his glasses and slipped them on. When Sam placed her hand on his shoulder, Daniel closed his eyes and let out a shuddering breath.
"I'm...I'll be fine," he told her. He opened his eyes and looked up at her, frowning when he saw the sadness on her face. "How are you? Your eulogy was beautiful and..." He trailed off and took another deep breath. "I'm sorry I haven't came to talk to you before this. I just...I'm sorry for not doing more to keep her safe."
