"It's got a lot better now that we have reliable contact with Earth," Carson said just before Jennifer realized who Caitlin was. He looked over at Rodney, feeling himself tense a bit. What exactly had he told her? Rodney had been the one that had listened to him after the break up, and even though he had never said anything bad against her, he knew what Rodney could be like.
So when Jennifer told them what he had said, Carson let out a small sigh of relief. The last thing he wanted was for people to think ill of Cait because of some misplaced view of friendship loyalty.
He was also glad when Cait made an excuse to get them out of having breakfast with Rodney and Jennifer. He waved to them after they promised to meet later and followed Cait out of the dining hall, giving her a smile as they stepped into the transporter.
"Not at all," he told her, pressing the map. "Honestly, if we had stayed, we wouldn't have got a chance to talk at all. Rodney would have monopolized the entire conversation."
A moment later, they arrived on the floor where they had found their lab. When they reached it, Carson tapped in his unlock code before glancing at her.
"I haven't been in here since you left," he told her as the door slid open. "Guess it's a good thing that dust doesn't seem to collect around her."
