Heather wasn't the only one who'd heard the computer protesting the lack of a proper password. And, like Heather, the first time Scotty heard the noise he shrugged it off as someone mistyping it. Lord knew it happened to him often enough. And the second time, well. There were some mornings when he was a bit fumbly before he'd got his proper dose of coffee in. But the sounds continued, and, like his second-in-command, Scotty went to investigate - just in time to catch the kid talking back to Heather.
"Says the Chief Engineer's second-in-command, that's who," he answered, crossing his arms. "An' the Chief Engineer, in case the message wasn't clear the first time. It's too dangerous for a wee bairn t'be down here."
