Heather had been playing with some physics equations involving velocity while towing extra mass on a PADD when she heard something amiss. The computer kept making that noise she liked to make when people didn't give her the right passwords followed by her polite explanation of said noise. Once wasn't uncommon. Two times understandable. A hat trick not unheard of but this-- this sounded like someone trying to break into the computer system. And that wasn't right.
Putting her PADD down, Heather followed the sound until she discovered a wee blond boy pressing buttons on the console like it was going out of style. That made her frown. Children should never be allowed in engineering-- for the dangers the engines could cause them and that they could cause the engines. And she was relatively certain civilians not contracted to Starfleet weren't allowed down here, anyway.
Regardless of the exact rules, Heather knew this boy being here was not a good thing. She pasted a smile on her face as she approached him, hoping she looked nonthreatening. (Her dealings with children had mostly been relegated to her nephew who, bless his heart, was probably the only being under the age of fourteen or so she could tolerate for any length of time. Kids were just so tiring.) Still, she tried-- "Och, laddie, ye cannae be in here."
