"Serving under a young captain is one thing," she said, taking her first bite, gesturing with her fork, "but the majority of the crew is young, too. I mean... I won't be the first to call myself old," she winked, "but some of these kids make me feel that way. My whole staff is young, right out of the Academy. And, unlike me, they didn't go to college first, so they're babies! They're hard workers, but I don't think any of them imagined being on the flagship of the Federation right out of the Academy," she reasoned.
Gabby was quiet fo a moment, chewing slowly to enjoy her dinner. "Mmm, then again, I could say the same thing about myself. I was content in my post at Starfleet Medical. I didn't imagine myself on a ship for another few years," she shrugged. "I'm still adjusting."
