Fred was glad Caitlin and Charlie were all right. When Rodney had told her Caitlin had gone into labor, her heart sunk. She knew Carson would take good care of them but she was still worried about what affects giving birth in their quarters might have on Caitlin. It was all she could think about as Radek and her worked with Jennifer to figure out what had stung Dereks. Luckily for them, a marine had been stung by the same thing during the first year of the expedition and all the information was in the medical database. And, on top of that, Kathryn and Tim had figured out a way to unlock some of the doors in the city so they could get to the family quarters.
As Radek and her worked on fixing the lockdown, Fred had to turn her connection to John off, knowing she wouldn't be much use if she was distracted by what her husband was feeling at the time. She knew he would understand, and not being able to feel her husband made her work faster. Not because she hated the connection but because she missed it and wanted it back.
After being kicked out of Caitlin's room by Jennifer, Fred stood outside the door and rubbed the back of her neck.
"You look tired," Daniel commented.
"It's been a long two days," she said. Since Rodney was still working on the device for Jeannie, Radek and Fred had taken over the coding for the new program.
"If it is all right with you, Daniel and I can watch Alex and Chase tonight so the both of you can have some rest," Teyla offered.
Fred looked over at John and grinned. She didn't feel bad for sending Alex and Chase to spend time with their friends, since the two siblings were getting along a lot better. Chase had become more mobile and was walking with the aid of coffee tables and couches, and could say simple words. This seemed to please Alex and she had taken it upon herself to teach Chase how to say even more words. And Fred knew how much the two of them loved Daniel and Teyla.
"Thank you. I think a night away from the kids would be good," Fred said as she looked back at Daniel and Teyla. "I always pack a change of clothes and their pajamas in Chase's diaper bag in case anything happens and there should be enough formula for him."
"I am sure Daniel and I will manage," Teyla said as she placed her hand on Fred's arm. "We will pick them up from the daycare center. The two of you go and have some fun."
"Thank you," Fred said once again as Teyla and Daniel walked off. She then turned and smiled at her husband again.
