When Sam mentioned the Genii, John felt a sinking feeling in his gut. There was a name he had actually hoped he would never hear again, not after the ass whooping they had given Kolya and his followers when they had tried to take over Atlantis several years ago. After they had failed, the Genii society had fallen apart, and the people had pulled back to lick their wounds.
It seemed, however, they were starting to make their presence known again. It was a bit disconcerting to hear that after so many years, but since they hadn't really done anything other than made some contacts and trades with other planets in the Pegasus Galaxy, there wasn't much they could really do.
So while they decided to keep tabs on they, they continued on with everything else that was going on. Charlie - who was going by CT since Carson and Cait were planning on calling their daughter Charlie - was spending time with several of the pilots, including John, to learn how to fly the jumpers. He was pretty good, John had to say. In fact, he thought he might actually pass him at some point. And Kathryn was working in medical while Alex helped out in the greenhouses. Due to the current season on Hestia, they couldn't plant for a few more months yet.
They all had taken well to living on Atlantis, it seemed. Currently, they were spending most evenings with the Tullys for dinner, so Fred and her sister could continue to get to know each other.
John had just arrived at the daycare center to pick up the kids when he suddenly heard a cry of frustration. A very familiar cry. Hurrying in, he found Alex standing in the middle of the room, looking at her teddy bear.
"Pumpkin, what's wrong?" he asked, kneeling down.
"Chase chewed on my bear again!" she told her, her lip sticking out. "He's being naughty!"
"Oh, Alex, he doesn't mean to be. His gums hurt because he's getting his teeth, and he doesn't know any better."
"He's still naughty!" she insisted, stamping her foot.
John sighed and looked over at his son, who was sitting on the floor, drooling a bit. He wished he could make Alex understand that her brother really wasn't trying to make her upset. "I know," he told her finally. "Come on. Let's go home, and we'll take care of Chase, okay."
Alex stared at him as he stood up and went to pick up Chase. Once they had everything, they headed back to their quarters.
"Mommy, Chase chewed on my bear again!" Alex announced as soon as they walked in.
