With a small laugh, Fred shook her head when Alex said she wasn't tired. She was pretty sure she was only saying it because she wanted to continue to play with Peyton. However, it would seem Peyton was getting tired too and had taken to snuggling in her mother's arms. Plus, Chase was starting to fall asleep in his high chair, which meant it was time for them to head back.
After Carson, Caitlin and Rodney had walked off, Fred was about to open the motel door when Alex asked his question. Coughing a little, Fred looked over at John before looking at her sister and her husband. They had told them about the Ancients and Atlantis, but had yet told them about their connection and their 'titles' within the Pegasus Galaxy. She supposed this was a good time.
"Why don't the two of you come in and we'll explain some things to you," she said.
All of them went into the room and once the kids were down for their naps - little Alex and Peyton snuggled together on the bed - Fred motioned for Kathryn and the older Alex to sit down.
"There are people in the Pegasus Galaxy known as Guardians. Well, actually only two people. John and I were meant to be together. We have a connection to where we can sense each other and communicate telepathically. There's a young girl in the city named Callie and she told us we are the Guardians of the galaxy. Her parents had been at one time but both of them died," Fred explained. She expected Alex and Kathryn to be confused but they didn't seem to be.
"We have seconds in command," Fred continued. "That would be Carson and Caitlin. They have a connection, too, but not as strong as the one between John and I. Then there's Rodney...his wife died about six months ago and he didn't deal with it very well. I'm not sure how they got together or how long it's been going on, but now Rodney is connected to Carson and Caitlin. Why...we don't know."
"Wow," Kathryn said with a look of awe. "Atlantis really is a special place, huh?"
"Very special. And not because of the cool connections and equipment but because it's our home," she said before she reached over to take John's hand. "I couldn't think of a better place to be and raise a family."
