Continued from here.
The meeting with the IOA went about as well as Carson thought it might. Now that they had proof that the retro-virus worked permanently and with one dose as opposed to the first batch, they were interested in knowing whether Cait and Carson could develop a way to mass distribute it to the Wraith. The only way that sort of thing seemed possible was by turning the retro-virus into a gas.
Something that would take a bit of time in order to make sure it stayed stable.
The IOA wanted it done, though, so when Cait and Carson left the meeting, they had no doubt as to what they would be working on. Or at least what Carson would be working on since Cait's pregnancy was progressing. He was starting to wonder with all the medical research projects he was being asked to complete whether he shouldn't talk to Sam about a change in the medical department's set-up. Jennifer had practically been running the infirmary lately. It was probably time to make it official.
As they headed up to find out where Rodney had gone, they were waylaid by Doctor Lam, who asked they would stop in the SGC infirmary so she could get a sample of blood from Cait. It seemed a strange request, and when they asked Lam, she simply said that the request had come from the IOA. So they made the stop. After they were finished, they ran into Landry, who directed them to where the others were.
Fred and John had told them the night before about the discovery of her twin sister Kathryn, but when they walked into the briefing room, Carson was still struck with amazement at the sight of the two women sitting there.
"Nice to meet you," Carson said when Fred introduced them just before Alex ran up and jumped on him. "Oof. Hello there, little lass."
"Uncle Carson, this is Peyton. She's my age and my new friend!" she said, bouncing excitedly.
Carson looked down at the little girl now standing by him. "Well, hello to you too."
"Your voice is funny," Peyton said as she looked up at him.
"That's because I'm from another country."
"Carson, Kathryn here might be working in medical with you," Rodney told him.
"I have experience as a lab technician," she said.
He gave her a smile and nodded. "That would be a great help. We could always use another technician around."
