When Fred and Caitlin started talking about where they wanted to go on vacation, John found himself chuckling as he looked at his wife. "You two are trying pretty hard to convince us," he said before sending to her privately, Is this just so you can get me naked?
"Well, I'm convinced," Carson said, grinning at Caitlin. "I've never been to Florida, actually."
"Same here. Florida it is."
Within a couple of days, Sam had gotten everything taken care for them, and they started getting ready to leave. It was the first vacation John and Fred had been on since their honeymoon a few years before, and even that had been mostly a working trip because of the relics. Packing for this one, however, turned out to be an adventure, especially since they were taking an infant and toddler along. Alex - as usual - wanted to take her room, which required some heavy-duty compromising. In the end, though, as long as Alex had her teddy bear, she was happy.
Once they were finally ready, John, Fred, Carson and Caitlin said goodbye to everyone, and after Alex blew kisses to everyone from her father's arms, they headed through the Stargate back to Earth. When they arrived, Landry greeted them and told them he wanted to show them the Stargate's newest toy.
A permanent teleportation platform had been built in orbit around Earth. Landry told them that since they were traveling with two kids, they might find this better than a plane before having the six of them teleported up then back to Patrick Air Force in Florida. When they arrived, they found a mini-van waiting for them, and soon they were heading to Daytona Beach, using the directions they had been given to find were they were staying.
When they arrived, John let out a low whistle. "Wow," he said, looking at the cottage that had been rented for them for the next two weeks. It had an unbelievable view the ocean. Looking in the rearview mirror, he chuckled. "Hey, Carson, wake up - we're here."
Carson, who had been resting his head against Caitlin's shoulder, opened his eyes. "We are...bloody hell, look at that view," he said before he realized what he had just said in front of Alex. He put his hand over his mouth sheepishly. "Sorry."
