When Fred mentioned someone she knew named Tim, John found himself frowning in thought for a moment, but what was more important was the fact that she knew someone that might be able to help them get into the other universe to help the Fred there. He knew it wasn't going to be easy, and he had no idea whether it was even going to work, but knowing that that they might be able to, he knew that they had to try.
He wrapped his arms around his wife and held her tightly against him. For the other John who couldn't help his wife in their universe, he had to try. He would have wanted someone to help his Fred had it been possible.
"Whatever we can do," he whispered to her before they went the dining hall for dinner and then to Sam's office. When she told them that they wanted him to stay on Atlantis to keep tabs on Elizabeth, he nodded. He knew Fred and Sam would be fine in D.C., and Elizabeth needed a friend that she could trust.
After they returned to their quarters, John kicked off his boots and sat in the living room while Fred took a shower after Alex was in bed. He gave some thought to the situation with Elizabeth and realized that there was another person in the Pegasus Galaxy that probably understood what she was going through. So he decided that in the morning, he'd contact Colonel Caldwell once the Daedalus was in communications range again.
When Fred came out from the shower, he gave her a smile, shuddering a bit at her touch. "Alex and I will be fine," he replied as he reached up to run his fingers just under the edge of her robe. "And I never get into trouble. Well, hardly ever. Well...I promise to not get in any trouble while you're gone. I'm sure Sam would kill me if I did anything to the city."
Wrapping his arms around her, he pulled her onto his lap so he could kiss her again.
