Fred looked over at John when he walked out of Elizabeth's room. "You heard right," she said before telling him what she had told Sam. After she was finished, she shrugged a little. "It's a long shot. Tim says she hasn't been in the game for a while and has no desire to be part of the science community again. But it's worth a shot. I can only imagine what she's going through. I...that thing made her kill her husband and I can't imagine how that would feel. We need to help her." She blinked her eyes and wrapped her arms around her husband. "And I love you so very much for doing this."
After checking on Elizabeth, they took Alex down the the dining hall so she could have something to eat. They were just finishing when Sam called the both of them over their headsets, asking for them to come to her office to discuss things. They put their trays away and went to Sam's office. When they got there, they both sat down on the couch.
"I spoke to General Landry about the trip to D.C. and the situation with Elizabeth," Sam said as she leaned against her desk. "He's approved our trip to D.C. but wants John to stay behind and help with keeping an eye on Elizabeth. He wants us to keep a close eye on her for a while until the president and IOA can be briefed on what happened. If it were up to me, I'd let her stay here but the final decision rests on them."
They discussed the trip to D.C. a little more before Sam dismissed the both of them. It was late and since there was nothing more for them to do, they went back to their quarters so they could turn in for the night. After getting Alex in bed, Fred went to take a shower. When she was finished, she came out to the living room in only a robe and sat down next to her husband. She leaned over and deeply kissed him for several moments before pulling back.
"Are you all right with me being gone for a couple of days?" she asked as she ran her hand down his chest. "You'll stay out of trouble, right?"
