After hugging Alex, John turned and hugged Meredith and Chase. When Chase looked up at him, he really could see himself in his son's eyes. Grinning, he mussed his hair a bit - not that it was neat to begin with. He had definitely also inherited his hair's uncontrollability.
"Take care of your sisters," he told him. "Even when they drive you crazy."
"I do," Chase told him. "And they take care of me too. Love you, Dad."
John nodded. "Love you too. See you in a few months." Once the kids had disappeared through the Gate, John looked at Fred, feeling the pride radiating from her. Their kids were amazing.
He could sense that she wanted to go get something to eat, but before they had a chance, Daniel came in, and soon, they were sitting in Sam's office, wondering what was going on. No one seemed thrilled to be there except for Sam. Especially Rodney, who made his annoyance much more obvious than Fred's by starting to work on something else.
Daniel didn't seem to let it bother him, though, making John wonder if he had dealt with similar attitudes before. "Well, it's a pretty interesting prophecy talking about the Children of Atlantis. Based on what I translated, the majority of their parents will come through the Gate to 'reclaim the lost city from the depths'." He looked at all of them with a raised eyebrow. John noticed Rodney put down his tablet and sit forward. "The parents will be the guardians of the city until the children return it to its former glory."
"Are you saying...that's us and our kids?" John asked.
Daniel nodded. "I'm pretty sure, yes. The original expedition members are the ones that brought the city back up from under the ocean."
